Here we have a bright vivid red unheated untreated natural ruby and diamond flower ring in 18K white gold.

The color of these rubies is astonishing, a startling vivid bright red! There are five of these beautifully matched unheated untreated natural rubies each with just slightly less than half a carat in weight. The total ruby weight here is 2.25 carats.

There are 0.34 carats of VS clarity F color white diamond accents. These beautiful sparkly white diamonds are set across the shoulders on either side of the ruby flower and also at the center of the flower.

The color POP is something else!

Inside the shank there is a 750 metal fineness stamp meaning 18K gold, testing confirms the same. It weighs 3.62 grams.

This ring is a size 6 1/4 US and can be sized within a range.

The diamonds and rubies span the full width of the finger.

This beautiful ring to me is all about a celebration of rubies! These dazzling glowing vivid red astonishing stones cannot be forgotten once seen...the intensity and brightness of these previous untreated and unheated rubies can't but take your breath away!

The ruby and diamond face of the ring measures 1/2" along the finger and has a low rise of 1/4" making it a perfect ruby ring to wear every day (13mm, 6mm).

Fine quality unheated untreated rubies are rare and valuable stones and worth much more than heated or treated rubies. Glass filled or beryllium treated or diffused rubies are of very low quality and value.

Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are undesirable and such treated stones are of very low value.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
