A one of a kind custom hand made vintage green jade and diamond 14K gold ring circa 1970.
The cluster is beautifully designed and is reminiscent of bamboo. It sits quite high off the hand and really pops with the intense color of the jade in contrast to the fine white diamonds and luxurious yellow gold.
The beautiful jadeite jade in this handmade vintage ring is untreated. Apart from normal cutting and polishing it is as mined. Untreated jade is immensely more valuable than modern treated jade. The color is an intense leafy green and the cabochons have lovely high polish.
The untreated jadeite jade weight is 2.16 carats. The jadeite jade cabochons are well matched between the set.
There are 0.15 carats of fine white diamonds G VS/SI (mainly VS), these are old cut and very sparkly.
The total weight of jade and diamonds is 2.31 carats
It measures approximately 13/16" along the finger by 13/16" across the finger and rises 3/8" high off the finger (20 x 21mm, 10mm). This is a statement sized cluster ring which and the jade and diamond one of a kind sculptural design spans the whole breadth of the finger.
Inside the shank there is a 585 metal fineness mark, meaning solid 14 Karat yellow gold this confirmed by testing. It weighs 5.35 grams.
It is a size 5 US and is sizable within a range.

Today we rarely see this quality and sadly most "handmade" rings are cast then polished but not handmade at all and were manufactured using CAD computer imaging design software with molds printed and cast. Stones can even be cast in place and not even set by hand! That means the stones are likely to be lost and the claws are brittle and uneven. These CAD rings do not have the quality of handmade gold rings and are unlikely to be able to be passed onto future generations but rather will be scrapped because of the porosity of the metal and other factors of casting using this cheap technology. This handmade ring is quality and will stand the test of time. It is an heirloom jewel like no other a custom made one of a kind rare mid century period jade and diamond ring!
