An exceptional Modernist Unheated Untreated Natural Ruby and Diamond Ring

Here we have an absolutely stunning handmade one of a kind natural red ruby and diamond accent ring in 14K white gold circa 1970.

This amazing ruby and diamond ring is honestly like a tiny sculpture. The sparkle is just lovely but even more so it looks so exciting and inspiring from every which angle you view it. It's so unique and the color pop is exquisite!

The three rubies have a beautiful color a rich ruby red in most lighting conditions but also a purplish tint to the red can be seen in sunlight outdoors. These rubies are completely unheated and untreated they are just as mother nature made them having been only faceted and polished.

The three beautifully matched natural red rubies are each marquise cut and have been claw set by hand. These measure respectively 8.19mm x 4.03mm, 6.81mm x 4.1mm and 7.33mm x 3.8mm.

The central larger ruby weighs 0.50 carats whilst the other two rubies are each 0.40 carats.

Our total ruby weight here is 1.30 carats.

There are 22 hand set single cut diamonds VS/SI G/H each 1.1mm in diameter. The total weight of diamond accents is 0.13 carats.

In total the diamond and ruby weight is 1.43 carats.

In total this pretty ruby ring weighs approximately 6.4 grams.

Inside the shank it is marked 585 for 14K white gold. It is a size 7 US and can be resized within a wide range.

The ruby and diamond set cluster measures approximately 3/4" long by 11/16" wide by 3/8" high (19mm x 18mm x 10mm).

This special vintage natural ruby ring is entirely handmade - there is one ring in the world just like this one! Is this the perfect ruby heirloom to treasure for generations to come? What a glorious choice to celebrate a special occasion!

It is in good vintage condition and is ready to gift or to wear.

An Appraisal and Gem Report is included with your purchase.

It shall be sent in a presentation box ready for gifting.

Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. There are also sapphires treated heavily with beryllium treatment to imitate rubies. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell rubies with these treatments.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
