A timeless classic unheated untreated natural red ruby engagement ring in solid gold set with an gorgeous halo of sparkly natural white diamonds.

I just adore how the ballerina setting has been made for this ring. The perfect white glittering diamond baguettes are slightly tapered to make the halo and they are set in a slightly curved setting which is reminiscent of petals in a pretty flower.

At the heart of this ring is a 1 carat fine earth mined natural ruby which is oval cut and absolutely loupe clean. This glorious gem is surrounded by 1.1 carats of VS clarity F color diamonds which have been beautiful set by hand in a fine diamond halo. The total precious gem weight for this stunning vintage engagement ring is 2.1 carats.

Currently this gorgeous ruby and diamond ring is a size 9 1/8 USA sizing. It is sizable within a wide range.

It is in beautiful condition and is ready to gift or to wear.

The diamonds in this ring are such an amazing contrast to the vermilion red of the earth mined unheated untreated ruby - the color pops and just makes you stare!

Unheated untreated rubies such as this one have been increasingly sought after in recent years as no new deposits have been found for gem rubies of this quality. The trend for unheated ruby prices to soar is set to continue because the global demand for these extremely rare precious gems far exceeds finds especially in the one carat plus weights.

This ring is an heirloom quality piece of luxury jewelry.

Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. There are also sapphires treated heavily with beryllium treatment to imitate rubies. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell rubies with these treatments.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
