Here we have a quality unheated untreated marquise cut natural ruby and diamond tennis bracelet in 14K yellow gold circa 1970.

The rubies are glowing red and have a stunning match throughout the set! The color really pops! I love the unique links for this tennis bracelet very stylish, timeless but yet...beautifully different and expressive. It's really unusual to see marquise cut gems in tennis bracelets like this. Here the effect is beautiful with each link set on the diagonal with a fiery red ruby, two sparkly white diamond accents showcase every stunning ruby. The pattern sparkle and color pop of these precious rubies and diamonds fully encircles the wrist. It closes with a box clasp with a lovely click and a hidden fold under security catch is present for added security of wear.

It is marked 14K and weighs 13.90 grams.

This bracelet sits just 3/16" (4.7 mm) wide on the wrist. This is a beautiful width for a luxurious bracelet to wear each day. The length is just less than 7 inches (177mm)

Set rubies and diamonds:
37 unheated untreated natural marquise cut fine gem quality rubies, 8.14 carats total weight
74 G/H VS diamonds 0.74 carats total weight

The total ruby and diamond weight is 8.88 carats.

It is rare today to see unheated untreated rubies, these stones are worth considerably more than treated rubies. (Please see comments below)

This stunning ruby bracelet is in lovely condition and is ready to gift or to wear.

This is a quality vintage bracelet. It would make an ideal choice for a special ruby anniversary gift or a ruby birthstone bracelet to keep in the family. It can be worn each day if desired as well as the perfect luxurious accessory for a special event.

An Appraisal Report is included with your purchase.

It will be sent in a presentation box ready for gifting and for safe keeping.

Fine quality unheated untreated rubies are rare and valuable stones and worth much more than heated or treated rubies. Glass filled or beryllium treated or diffused rubies are of very low quality and value.

Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are undesirable and such treated stones are of very low value.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
