A gorgeous fine gem quality unheated untreated Ceylon blue natural sapphire and unheated untreated natural diamond 14K gold ring, 2.07 carats total gem weight.

This very special vintage ring showcases an absolutely beautiful unheated fine Ceylon sapphire of 1.15 carats in weight. The sensational precious central sapphire is surrounded by a border of round brilliant cut and tapered baguette unheated untreated natural diamonds. The color POP of the wonderful blue of the sapphire and the sparkling white diamonds is absolutely stunning!

The very special thing about this glorious natural sapphire is that it is unheated and untreated. This Ceylon blue sapphire is just as mother nature made it having only been faceted and polished. There are no modern treatments such as diffusion and there is no glass filling that is seen in so much contemporary sapphire jewelry. The sapphire is of fine gem quality and is Eye Clean clarity which is the highest GIA clarity grade for sapphire. (See comments below for further information).

The divine natural sapphire measures 7.20 x 5.33 x 3.40mm and weighs 1.15 carats.

The total diamond weight is 0.92 carats VS clarity F/G/H color.

The sapphire and diamond weight is 2.07 carats.

The sapphire and diamond set face of the ring measures 7/16" long down the finger and it rises 5/16" high off the finger (10.6mm, 8.2mm).

Inside the shank there is a 14K stamp meaning solid 14 karat gold, this confirmed by testing. It weighs 4.25 grams.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.

Comments:
Unfortunately, in the last two decades many sapphires seen in modern jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion, deep diffusion and beryllium treatment. In recent years sapphires have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a sapphire. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell sapphires with these treatments. The lovely sapphire in this beautiful timeless classic vintage ring is as mother nature made it having only been faceted and polished. This ring cannot be compared to vintage reproduction rings in this style that are set with modern treated sapphires. This fact that this sapphire is unheated and untreated makes this beautiful ring the ideal choice for a special sapphire celebration ring such as an engagement, milestone birthday or a sapphire anniversary ring that will be handed down in the family for generations to come.
