Here we have an absolutely gorgeous mid century natural bright red ruby and diamond engagement ring.

Please note this ruby is a super vivid red much brighter than the photos depict.

It is a size 7 US. There is some small ability to resize.

This pretty ring weighs approximately 5.3 grams.

The ruby and diamond set face of the ring measures approximately 7/16" long down the finger and rises just 1/8" above the finger making it the ideal engagement or dress ring. (11mm, 4mm).

Inside the shank it is clearly engraved with an 18K metal fineness mark. Professional testing confirms the same.

The largest ruby is pear cut and rub over set measuring approximately 5.8mm long by 4.4mm wide by 3.4mm deep and weighing 0.80 carats.

In addition to this there are accent rubies which are channel set. In total there are 10 of these channel set rubies. The total ruby accent weight is estimated to be 0.36 carats from measurements.

All the diamonds are VS clarity clarity and F/G color. They are channel set and each weigh approximately 2.5 points.

The total ruby weight here is 1.16 carats.

The total diamond weight here is 22.5 points.

This makes the total precious ruby and diamond weight carats 1.385 carats in this heirloom quality ring.

I love the eye catching alternating bands of rubies and diamonds. The style too which looks like a Princess' crown or a tiara is romantic and very beautiful.

A full appraisal shall accompany this wonderful ruby ring.

This exceptional untreated unheated natural red rubies and diamonds ring is in beautiful condition being ready to gift or to wear.

It shall be sent in a presentation box ready for gifting.

Please note that the rubies in person are distinctly bright red.

Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. There are also sapphires treated heavily with beryllium treatment to imitate rubies. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell rubies with these treatments.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
