An astonishing handmade mid century modernist bombe ring with blue enamel in solid 18K yellow gold dating to the early 1950s.
This intricately designed solid gold ring is entirely hand crafted. The detail is astonishing. Minute six sided ribbon like shapes are arranged in an asymmetric manner to form a full hemisphere. Falling below the too hemisphere if the ring there is a hand made beautifully detailed cage with complimentary geometry to the top of the ring. Inside this gold pomander sits a vivid electric blue enamel hemisphere.
It is a spectacular piece which is both futuristic and feminine at the same time. I have personally never seen anything like this hand made ring.
It weighs 9.2 grams. Inside the shank there is a 750 hallmark for 18K.
The top of the sphere ring rises 7/16" high off the finger and measures 1/2" in width.
Dating to the early 1950s this ring is in lovely condition, it is ready to gift or to wear.
Currently this beautiful ring is a size 4 1/2 US sizing. It is sizable.

There is a small area on the very edge of the enamelled gold hemisphere where the cobalt enamel has been glazed too thinly and the underlying gold is visible through the enamel. This occurring during original firing. This small defect in the enameling is hard to see and does not detract from the overall beauty or collectibility of this handmade mid century ring.
It is in lovely condition and presents well. It is ready to wear.
