Bow Motif Exceptional Vintage Ruby Diamond Ring.

Here we have a beautiful late mid century period unheated no heat untreated natural ruby and natural diamond engagement or dress ring in 14K yellow gold, 1.48 carats total weight.

The colors here are beautiful the central ruby is an intense red and is surrounded by a beautiful display of caliber cut slightly pinkish red rubies and clusters of fine sparkling white diamonds top and bottom! There is geometry reminiscent of a bow and right at once also a slightly floral appeal! It's adorable and stunning to look at! The design is eye popping with the bright colors of the precious untreated natural rubies and diamonds.

Importantly here the rubies have had no treatments - no heat, no diffusion, no clarity enhancement - they are as mother nature made them - this is rare indeed! Rubies of gem quality that are unheated and untreated are some of the very rarest gems money can buy. With the majority of modern ruby rings being set with clarity enhanced and/or color enhanced rubies this is a fact of great importance and significance.

The central ruby is oval cut claw set vivid red measures 5.45mm by 4.15mm weighing 0.40 carats.

The caliber cut tapered baguette cut unheated untreated rubies weigh 0.80 carats

There are 0.28 carats of sparkling white VS/SI clarity F/G/H color diamonds.

This makes the total ruby and diamond weight 1.48 carats in this special mid century period custom made ring.

The cluster is a beautiful size on the hand measuring 9/16" long by 1/2" wide by 1/4" high off the finger (15mm by 13mm x 7mm).

The low profile makes this no heat ruby and diamond ring an ideal choice for a wear every day anniversary or engagement ring!

It is a size 6 3/4 US and can be sized within a wide range.

Inside the shank we have a 14K fineness stamp meaning solid 14 karat yellow gold this confirmed by testing.

Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. There are also sapphires treated heavily with beryllium treatment to imitate rubies. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell rubies with these treatments.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings
