An exceptional circa 1950 solid gold engagement ring set with a large vivid pink natural tourmaline showcased in a high basket setting amidst a halo of sparkling white diamonds.

This ring is glorious - the colors are divine as is the old Hollywood glamour of the basket setting which showcases the astonishing natural gems. Words can't do justice to describe how beautiful the perfect white diamonds are against the deep pink of the fine gem tourmaline.

I love colored engagement rings. Colored gems are one of a kind and are much rarer than diamonds. For me a fine colored gem just can't be beaten for a really personal and one of a kind engagement ring. But this particular vivid gem is so special - the color varies slightly with the lighting conditions. Outdoors in bright sunlight it glows a pure hot pink - some would call this hot pink or even Shiaparelli pink. While indoors the color varies somewhat with the type of lighting - in some lights it shows an element of rich raspberry red as well. Gem scientists call this phenomenon metamerism and it certainly adds to the beauty and character of this striking gem.

The large exceptional gem tourmaline is a perfect emerald cut and measures 10.75mm by 9.17mm by approximately 5.70mm deep. It weighs a full 5 carats.

The fine diamond accents which are all F/G color and VS/SI clarity weigh 0.66 carats and really catch the light beautifully in the high setting.

This makes the total precious gem weight in this unique 1940s engagement ring 5.66 carats.

It is in good condition and is ready to gift or to wear.

Currently this special one of a kind deco ring is a size 4 1/4 USA it can be sized to most sizes very easily.

The gold is unmarked for metal fineness. Professional testing confirmed solid 12K yellow gold. As such it is likely this special ring was made in Europe.

This heirloom quality vintage engagement ring comes with full appraisal papers.

It will be sent in a fine ring presentation box ready for gifting.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
