Here we have a stunning pair of bright red natural earth mined unheated untreated pear cut ruby and sparkly natural untreated diamond accent earrings circa 1970.

These pretty natural ruby earrings are an estate pair. They are in lovely condition and are ready to gift or to wear.

The earrings are not to big or to small- just right in size for that luxury look whilst still being ideal for everyday wear. Each pretty diamond and ruby cluster forming the face of the earrings measures approximately 1/2" long by 7/16" wide by 5/16" deep (13.5mm x 11.6mm x 7.5mm).

Together the pair weigh approximately 5.2 grams. The omega back fittings for pierced ears are super comfortable with the perfect tension for secure wear and comfort.

They are signed on the reverse and clearly stamped 14K. Professional testing confirms the same.

The large pear cut rubies each weigh 1 carat.

Surrounding these gem quality large natural rubies there is a double tiered halo of sparkly natural diamonds. In total there are 50 of these beautiful diamond accents each set by hand by a master diamond setter. The diamonds are 1.75mm in diameter VS/SI (mainly VS) and K/L in color.

The total ruby weight is 2 carats.

Here we have a total diamond weight of 1 carat.

The total ruby and diamond weight in these heirloom quality ruby earrings is 3 carats.

It's very special to obtain ruby earrings today with rubies larger than one carat especially in such gorgeous color.

I adore the ballerina settings for these earrings - they have a sexy retro look to them and sparkle like crazy!

A full appraisal shall accompany this pretty ruby and diamond earrings.

We shall ship in a presentation box for safe keeping.

Fine quality unheated untreated rubies are rare and valuable stones and worth much more than heated or treated rubies. Glass filled or beryllium treated or diffused rubies are of very low quality and value.

Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are undesirable and such treated stones are of very low value.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
