A gorgeous natural padparadscha sapphire and earth mined white diamond engagement ring circa 1970.

This super pretty ring features a central eye clean 0.55 carat natural padparadscha peach sapphire. This exceptional sapphire measures 6.0mm by 4.1mm by 2.7mm. There is no evidence of modern processes such as high temperature heating with chemicals like beryllium and there is no evidence of glass filling. The color of this sapphire is exceptionally rare! The word padparadscha is derived from the Sinhalese word padma radschen, translating to "lotus blossom".

Surrounding this beautiful gem sapphire is a cluster of 1.5 point diamonds - 26 of these in total giving beautiful sparkle! These diamonds are H/I/J in color and SI/I in clarity. The total diamond weight here is 0.39 carats.

In total you have a sapphire and diamond weight of 0.94 carats.

The setting itself is solid 14K gold. The diamonds are set in white gold with the peach sapphire and the shank of the ring itself in yellow gold. It is clearly marked inside the shank with a metal fineness mark "14K" and tests confirm the same.

I really like the use of both yellow and white gold as it makes it such a versatile piece to wear allowing it to be worn with both white gold, yellow gold or even platinum, palladium or silver!

The ring is sizable to most sizes required. It is currently a size 7 1/2 US.

Now the stunning gem set top of the ring measures 7/16" long down the finger and rises 5/16" high off the hand (11mm, 8mm).

In total it weighs 3.6 grams.

This beautiful little engagement or promise ring is as unique as the love between two people. The color of the sapphire is very rare indeed making it quite the collectors item. Nothing could be more unique than the love between any couple. This natural padparadscha sapphire ring is the perfect celebration of an engagement or anniversary.

It will be sent in a presentation box ready for gifting and for safe keeping.

It is in lovely condition and is ready to gift or to wear.

Full appraisal papers will accompany this lovely one of a kind vintage engagement ring.

Unfortunately, in the last two decades many sapphires seen in modern jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion, deep diffusion and beryllium treatment. In recent years sapphires have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a sapphire. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell sapphires with these treatments.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
