This one of a kind unheated red ruby and sparkly diamond accent ring was made in the 1970s.

The workmanship is simply exceptional. There are no cast or machined elements to this ring - just the finest quality hand made manufacture you could imagine.

Inside the shank there is a makers mark, a serial number and also a 14K metal fineness stamp.

This is a statement ring which sides long and wide on the hand. The ruby and diamond set face of the ring measures approximately 1 1/16" long by 13/16" wide and rises high off the finger at 1/2" (27mm x 21mm x 12mm).

The rubies here are a really vivid red and completely untreated! They are beautifully matched for color throughout the whole set of 9 hand selected oval cut stones. These no heat rubies each measure on average 4.4mm x 3.6mm x 2.4mm. The average weight here is 0.32 carats.

There is 2.88 carats of precious rubies in this ring. Please note these are exactly as mother nature made them with no modern treatments we see today such as beryllium or glass filling. To obtain a set of matching unheated vivid red rubies from a gem merchant today if they were available would cost a premium in this number, quality and size.

As an accent to the red red of the fine rubies there are 6 round brilliant cut diamonds which are VS in clarity and F in color. These exceptional white diamonds add just the right amount of color contrast to completely showcase the fine rubies on display.

It weighs 8.7 grams.

This ring is a size 6 1/2 US and is sizable within a wide range.

An appraisal is included with your purchase of this astonishing ring.

Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. There are also sapphires treated heavily with beryllium treatment to imitate rubies. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell rubies with these treatments.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
