At first glance -WOW! Cornflower Blue Sapphire and Diamond Luxury Ring. An heirloom engagement or anniversary beckons.

This one of a kind no heat sapphire ring is eye popping with color and style.

A vintage unheated untreated natural deep cornflower blue sapphire and sparkling white diamond ring circa 1970.

The design showcases the contrast between the beautiful blue of the sapphire and the fine white diamonds. Using striking geometric details the sapphire and diamonds are set to me so they almost resemble a constellation. The asymmetrical slightly geometric solid gold setting is sculptural and looks elegant and eye catching from every angle. Mostly what took my breath away immediately was how the colors just POP!

This ring is a size 6 US and is sizable within a range. The style of this ring rises a little higher than a traditional engagement ring at 3/8" high off the hand, measurement along the finger is 1/2" and side to side 11/16" wide on the finger.

Inside the shank a 14K fineness stamp is present, this confirmed by testing.

It weighs 7.28 grams.

The set diamonds are 0.26 carats, 0.10 carats and 0.12 carats in weight respectively (4.09mm, 3.01mm and 3.15mm in diameter) VS in clarity and F/G/H in color.

The lovely deep cornflower blue unheated untreated natural sapphire itself weighs 1.05 carats. (5.53mm by 4.90mm by 4.31mm)

This makes the total sapphire and diamond weight 1.53 carats.

This exceptional blue sapphire ring is in beautiful vintage condition being ready to gift or to wear as you choose.

With such a superb sapphire weighing in over one carat this quality ring lends itself beautifully for a perfect one of a kind blue engagement ring or an anniversary ring. This ring is sure to get noticed for the stylish unique setting and the quality of the set stones. It's a keeper!

Unfortunately, in the last two decades many sapphires seen in modern jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion, deep diffusion and beryllium treatment. In recent years sapphires have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a sapphire. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell sapphires with these treatments.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
