Untreated Natural Ruby Band. Emerald Cut Rubies!

Here we have a dainty natural no heat ruby and diamond ring in 14K white gold dating to the mid century era.

This super pretty ring is set with three beautifully matched red rubies. These rubies are emerald cut, a rare cut for ruby because of the shape of the natural crystals which does not lend itself to obtaining high carat weighs from rough in cuts over than oval or round. These red rubies are of exceptional gem quality and beautifully cut.

The rubies measure respectively 5.20mm x 3.05mm x 1.4mm, 5.15mm x 3.20mm x 1.70mm and 5.18mm x 3.22mm x 1.40mm. They each weigh 0.26 carats, 0.33 carats and 0.27 carats.

The total ruby weight here is 0.86 carats.

There are four round brilliant cut accent diamonds 1.75mm in diameter VS/SI and G in color.

The total diamond weight here is 8 points.

This pretty natural red ruby wedding band or engagement ring has a total carat weight of rubies and diamonds of 0.94 carats.

Inside the shank it is signed with a makers mark and there is a 14K metal fineness stamp. Professional testing confirms the same.

Currently a size 3 1/2 US, sizable.

The photos form part of the description of this exclusive ruby ring.

Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. There are also sapphires treated heavily with beryllium treatment to imitate rubies. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell rubies with these treatments.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
