A superb 17th to 18th century Chinese Qing Dynasty untreated natural white nephrite jade pendant depicting the Goddess Guanyin.
The circular pendant is completely hollow between both sides of the pendant- the two intricately carved sides do not touch in the center. When you look through the pendant it creates an effect like lace.
White nephrite jade is highly prized and was reserved for imperial use in the early Qing Dynasty when this pendant was made. The nephrite here is pure white throughout without any hint or tinge of any other color and without any clouds- just a consistent translucent white across the whole carving. It is so translucent that it appears to almost catch the light and glow softly. This is beautiful jade.
It measures approximately 2 1/8" in diameter and is 5/16" thick (54mm x 54mm x 8mm) weighing 33.4 grams.
Guanyin here is so beautiful, she looks serene, calm and powerful. The whole pendant feeling quite beautiful to hold.
It is in lovely condition and is ready to display, to gift or to wear. To the reverse side of the pendant with pierced decorations there is a line across the nephrite carving shown in the photos. It presents well.
