PLEASE NOTE ENGAGEMENT FINGER IN PHOTO IS A 5 1/4 US THIS RING IS A 7 1/2 US MAKING RING LOOK LARGER THAN IT WOULD LOOK ON THE CORRECT SIZE FINGER.

Here we have a huge natural earth mined ruby and exceptional white dazzling diamond cocktail or dress ring crafted by hand in solid 18K yellow gold dating to the 1970s.

This is a one of a kind custom made mid century era ring. There are no cast or machined elements in the construction of this ring- every piece of the ring is made by hand.

It makes an enormous statement and is all about luxury. The ruby measures approximately 1" long down the finger and rises 3/8"high off the hand.

In total it weighs approximately 17.2 grams.

Inside the shank it is stamped clearly 18K. Professional testing confirms the same.

It is a size 7 1/2 US. There is some leeway to resize smaller.

There are 21 marquise cut vivid red natural earth mined rubies each beautifully matched for color set into a single high dome. These rubies measure approximately 5.15mm x 2.8mm with an estimated depth of 1.7mm weighing each an estimated 18 points.

The total gem ruby weight is 3.78 carats.

Not just the intense red rubies but the diamonds are just superb- they are VVS clarity F in color and just sparkle like crazy. These are beautifully cut diamonds. There is an interesting feature to these sparkly diamonds in that they have a slight blue fluorescence which makes them look even whiter and really pop as a color contrast to the vivid red gem rubies and against the luxurious heavy yellow gold setting.

The total diamond weight is 2.04 carats.

Here we have a total ruby and diamond weight in this ring of 5.82 carats.

This astonishing mid century modernist cocktail ring is in excellent condition and is ready to wear.

We shall send in a presentation box ready for gifting.

Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. There are also sapphires treated heavily with beryllium treatment to imitate rubies. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell rubies with these treatments.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
