intage Sparkly Ruby and Diamonds Ring.
Here we have a sparkly natural earth mined red ruby and dazzling white diamond engagement or dress ring crafted in 14K yellow gold circa 1970.
This unique ruby ring has moi and toi symbolism incorportated into the eye catching design. The asymmetrical ruby diamond cluster of the ring is appealing and very beautiful.
The low profile on the hand makes this ruby ring the perfect choice to wear as an everyday signature ring such as an anniversary ring, a natural ruby engagement ring or a birthstone ring.
It weighs approximately 4.6 grams.

Inside the shank there is a clear 14K metal fineness stamp. Professional testing confirms the same.
The sparkly ruby and diamond set face of the ring measures approximately 7/16" long down the finger and has a low rise of just 1/4" high making it a perfect ring to wear each day (11mm x 7mm).
There are 0.50 carats of VS clarity G/H color tapered baguette diamonds.
An additional 0.15 carats of VS clarity G/H color sparkly round brilliant cut diamonds are set as accents to either side of the central gem quality ruby.
This makes the total natural diamond weight in this pretty ring 0.65 carats.
The central gem quality natural earth mined marquise cut red ruby itself measures 7.8mm long by 3.7mm wide by 2.4mm deep and weights 0.58 carats.
Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. There are also sapphires treated heavily with beryllium treatment to imitate rubies. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell rubies with these treatments.
Here we have a total ruby and diamond weight of 1.23 carats in this ruby engagement ring.
