A stunning one of a kind genuine antique Art Deco period 1930s baby sky blue emerald cut unheated untreated sapphire and old cut diamond 14K white gold ring, 3.13 carats total gem weight.

The gorgeous sapphire is completely unheated and untreated in a rare emerald cut seldom seen in sapphire! Like all natural sapphires the color varies in different lighting conditions. I would best describe the color as a beautiful pastel sky blue or a baby blue! It is such a large size too for an unheated untreated fine gem quality sapphire - weighing 3 carats as estimated in the setting (8.85 x 6.52 x 3.79mm). The gorgeous unheated untreated sapphire is almost Eye Clean, a delicate feather can be seen in intense direct lighting conditions although generally is not apparent. This is a gorgeous sapphire indeed - the color of this unique and large natural sapphire is so unique and just so pretty! The emerald cut a real premium above any similar gem quality sapphire in other cuts so this cut is rarely seen in such large sapphires as this! What a sensational find!

In addition to the large precious emerald cut earth mined untreated blue sapphire there are also the following fine diamonds set in this ring:
• 2 VS, G/H round brilliant cut bezel illusion set diamonds each approximately 4 points
• 2 SI, G/H round brilliant cut bezel illusion set diamonds each approximately 2.5 points

This makes the total diamond weight 13 points.

The precious sapphire and fine diamond weight in total for the ring is 3.13 carats.

Testing confirms solid 14K white gold of the period, a slight warmth is present with the period white gold as the gold is not plated with rhodium as is commonly seen in later white gold jewelry. This ring weighs 6.92 grams.

When the ring is on it is 3/8" long down the finger and rises 3/8" high off the finger (9mm, 8.5mm).

Currently this ring is a size 6 1/2 USA sizing. There is some leeway to resize.

This beautiful antique one of a kind ring is traditionally handmade so rare to see today!

It is in lovely condition and is ready to gift or to wear.

An Appraisal and Gem Report is included with your purchase.

We will ship in a presentation box ready for gifting and for safe keeping.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.

Comments:
Unfortunately, in the last two decades many sapphires seen in modern jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion, deep diffusion and beryllium treatment. In recent years sapphires have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a sapphire. These treatments are undesirable and such treated stones are of very low value. This large sapphire is completely unheated and untreated having been just faceted and polished making this ring a perfect choice for a special sapphire celebration ring such as an engagement, wedding, birthday to remember or an anniversary ring that will be passed down in the family for generations to come.
