A pair of circa genuine antique OOAK very rare hand made 18K gold mourning earrings depicting hands in jeweled cuffs holding floral wreaths circa 1830.
Here the hand is symbolic of faith and connection and the wreath is symbolic of eternity and unity.
These exceptionally rare genuine Georgian period earrings are entirely handmade. Each delicate earring is set with fine natural seed pearls. These lovely pearls form the jewels on the cuffs and are set at the center of each flower on the beautiful little wreaths the hands are holding. Every part of this earrings is a lifelike miniature. The detail is amazing.
This fine pair of earrings is genuine and handmade nearly two hundred years ago they are not a modern 'reproduction', 'victorian style' or 'georgian style' reproduction. Original antique mourning jewelry with these motifs of the female hand and wreath are rare and much more valuable than reproduction earrings.
Together they weigh 2.36 grams. Each lovely earring measures 1 7/16" tall by 9/16" wide (35mm x 14mm). They are unmarked but have been tested by our appraiser and are solid 18K yellow gold.
They are in lovely antique condition. The original hook fittings have been changed in modern times for ball and post settings.
