A High Victorian Custom Made Etruscan Revival Bangle in Solid 14K Yellow Gold.

This divine bangle is decorated with natural perfectly matched pearls and vivid blue enamel details. It is a hand made piece made in the Etruscan revival style which was high fashion in the 1880s.

Etruscan revival jewelry drew it's inspiration from the jewels of antiquity. Astonishing finds of exquisite gold jewelry recovered by famous archeologists at this time captured the imagination of the Victorian public. In this bangle, the shapes of the decoration are derived directly from Etruscan jewels.

An exceptional piece, this item was given as a luxurious and special gift at the time. On the reverse of the bangle it has the inscription "Fanny Feb 14th 1879".

The entire bangle is hand crafted in solid 14K yellow gold.

In total it weighs 17.01 grams.

At the time this bracelet was made cultured pearls were not produced. Each and every divine silver pink pearl in this bracelet is a natural pearl. They are all perfectly matched for color and size with thick nacre and smooth skins. There are 13 of these rare pearls set in this bangle.

This fine 19th century bangle measures 6 5/8" internal circumference (168mm). It is 1 3/16" wide at the widest (30mm).

Considering that this piece is more than 140 years old the condition is beautiful. There is some minor wear to the enamel which does attest to the authenticity of this item. The clasp is strong and secure. The original safety chain is intact and strong. There are some faint dings and dents to the metal which are quite superficial and can only be seen in strong oblique lighting conditions.

In recent times Etruscan Revival jewels from the 19th century have been reproduced in Persia and other countries due to their popularity. This beautiful original 19th century bangle is an exceedingly rare piece to find on the market today.

It would make an exceptional addition to any collection of fine antique jewels.
