A dazzling original Art Deco period handmade unheated Burmese ruby and old European cut diamond ring in patinum.

This sparkling couture hand crafted ring is an original piece from the Art Deco period and not a reproduction.

I have never seen another similar antique diamond ring to this. I love the unique interpretation of the romantic sentiment of yesterday today and tomorrow to symbolise eternal love. The gorgeous ruby accents which are vivid red just took my breath away. They give this beautiful art deco diamond ring an elegance and femininity which just shines when you look at this piece. It almost has a floral look to it- it's exuberant and happy.

The selection of diamonds is wonderful they are each perfectly matched for color and are excellent cut. Being old European cut diamonds they are exponentially more fiery than modern ideal round brilliant cut diamonds you see dispersion everywhere and the scintillation is divine.

In total there are 2.02 carats of VS1/SI1 clarity I/J/K color diamonds which measure respectively 0.57 carats, 0.50 carats, 0.36 carats, 0.26 carats, 0.25 carats and 0.08 carats. These stones have excellent cuts and stunning polish.

Just the pretty vivid red natural unheated untreated Burmese ruby accents alone weigh 0.28 carats. Once again the attention to detail just shines as each gorgeous gem ruby has been hand selected to match the others for perfect red color and exceptional loupe clean clarity. Often in the art deco era synthetic rubies were used in fine jewelry to achieve this sort of color match as it is so rare to find rubies which perfectly match in this astonishing red. Not so with this divine art deco platinum engagement ring every ruby accent is a natural gem.

The total ruby and diamond weight 2.30 carats.

Currently this heirloom antique old European cut diamond ring is a size 7 1/4 USA sizing. It can be resized 1 1/2 American sizes either way with ease.

An Appraisal and Gem Report is included with your purchase.

This dazzling Art Deco ring makes the perfect choice for a special ruby engagement or anniversary ring!

It will be sent in a fine ring presentation box ready for gifting and for safe keeping.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.

Comments:
Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. There are also sapphires treated heavily with beryllium treatment to imitate rubies. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell rubies with these treatments. These rubies are natural unheated and untreated as they were mined and are of fine gem quality. The rubies in this ring are unheated untreated and Burmese origin.

This fine quality antique ring is traditionally handmade and the gems hand set. This is unusual these days. These days much less jewelry is traditionally handmade due to the high cost and scarcity of skilled labour. Much contemporary jewelry is designed with a computer and cast from molten metal, the gems may be cast in place rather than hand set. These methods are fast, cheap, require little or no traditional jewelry making skills and allow for mass production but can't match the quality of expertly traditionally handmade jewelry. Hand making jewelry using traditional skills is very expensive by comparison. This dazzling one of a kind ring is completely handmade - just one in the world exactly like this one!
