Here we have an amazing one of a kind antique dazzling fiery natural untreated opal and diamond handmade ring from the Art Deco period circa 1920.

Every detail is beautiful and carefully designed. The sides of the ring show filigree foliate details which are handmade, the shank is highly symmetrical on both sides and the sparkle from the white diamonds on each side of the neon orange opal are the perfect color contrast.

The quality is superb, the ring is beautifully handmade so rare to see these days, the gemstones are exceptional! The central exceptionally large opal has a neon orange body color in sunlight. The play of color appears across the whole cabochon with no dull areas. There are sparks and spectral lines like fireworks which are dazzling, astonishing and exuberant. The colors are vivid and brighter than bright can be!

Today reproductions and most other rings are designed with computer aided technologies. This ring though...this special opal and diamond ring is of the Art Deco period a true antique ring of the period and therefore more desirable, more rare and more valuable.

The ring is a size 4 1/2 US, it can be resized within a range.

Inside the shank there is a platinum fineness stamp, testing confirms the same. It weighs 6.69 grams.

There are engraved carat weights for the opal and diamonds:
The precious opal weighs 3.93 carats measuring 15mm long by 12mm wide. This is a museum quality opal of exceptional quality. Like all opals the play of color is unique to this particular opal.
The diamonds weigh 0.16 carats and are VS clarity and F color.

The total opal and diamond weight here is 4.09 carats.

I tried to capture just some of the astonishing ways this wonderful antique opal can look in different lights. The colors and patterns with this one of a kind opal vary in each and every light and the liveliness of the colors and how they move around the opal is almost beyond belief.

This ring rises 3/8" high off the finger and sits 9/16" wide along the finger (9mm, 15mm). It really makes a lovely splash on the hand such a talking point and stunning to look at.

It is in beautiful antique condition and is ready to gift or to wear.

This special ring is the perfect engagement or celebration ring. It is a genuine antique ring from the Art Deco period, the opal and the setting are one of a kind, it makes you constantly smile with the playfulness of the dazzling natural opal. More so the timeless design and the quality of this ring will never go out of fashion. It's the perfect choice for an family heirloom.

An Appraisal is included with your purchase for your records.

We will ship in a presentation box for safe keeping and ready for gifting.

Unfortunately in the last 15 years most opal has been mined from Ethiopia. This opal whilst beautiful is unstable. It can lose it’s color and go cloudy and has a tendency to craze, crack and break. We do not sell Ethiopian opal.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings. When you see this ring in person the play of color will look different outside, inside and in every lighting condition and in every angle! That is the beauty of course of this exceptionally rare natural gemstone. We do our very best to show every piece accurately in our listings and take photos in daylight equivalent lighting conditions.

Today we rarely see this quality and sadly most "handmade" rings are cast then polished but not handmade at all and were manufactured using CAD computer imaging design software with molds printed and cast. Stones can even be cast in place and not even set by hand! That means the stones are likely to be lost and the claws are brittle and uneven. These CAD rings do not have the quality of handmade gold rings and are unlikely to be able to be passed onto future generations but rather will be scrapped because of the porosity of the metal and other factors of casting using this cheap technology. This handmade ring is quality and will stand the test of time. It is an heirloom jewel like no other.
