A spectacular large SOLID light colored Natural Australian Opal cabochon circa 1970 Lightning Ridge.
This opal is simply put astonishing. The photos don't do justice to the amazing play of color that is exhibited across the whole top of the cabochon. There are intense flashes of red, orange, yellow green and blue which shift across the whole stone. The whole spectrum is present in this precious opal.
The opal measures approximately 14.49mm x 10.45mm x 3.49mm.
It weighs approximately 3.0 carats.
The polish is very high and this stone is in excellent condition.
At the back of the cabochon there is the matrix of the opal. This is solid natural Australian opal not a doublet or a triplet.
