Circa 1890 Reverse Painted hand engraved and painted Essex crystal ring in 18K yellow gold.

This fine ring dates to the later part of the 19th century. The astonishing reverse hand carved and painted miniature of the stagecoach has the most amazing detail. You can see each stagecoach light, the detail of the clothing of the passengers and even the drivers whip.

The face of the ring itself measures 1" long is 7/8" wide and rises around 5/16" high off the finger when worn (25mm x 22.5mm x 8.5mm)

The enclosed bulb shaped setting is typical of the period. The band has shoulders that are decorated and is beautiful in it's own right.

In total this gorgeous piece weighs 9.25 grams.

This is an astonishing piece that is one of a kind and could never be replaced.

There were hundreds of engraving tools and paint brushes used to create designs this precise. This is the finest one I have ever seen.

I am unsure if it comes across in the photos but the visual appearance of this ring makes you actually hear the stage coach/ carriage approaching.....it is really quite alive!

Currently this rare piece is a size 6 US sizing.

The ring is in excellent condition for the age. There is a small dent in the back of the enclosed setting. The essex crystal moves an infinitesimally small amount in the rub over setting.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
