A gorgeous one of a kind traditionally handmade vintage unheated untreated natural Burmese ruby and unheated untreated natural diamond bracelet circa 1950, 8.83cttw.
The Burmese rubies are a vivid red with a pink overtone and well matched throughout. With a high powered microscope to a trained eye there is a single gem out of the 49 set rubies which is actually an unheated untreated padparadscha sapphire, to the naked eye this is not visible. These gorgeous rubies are an ideal Burmese ruby color and are completely unheated and untreated. This is so rare to see today! Of course unheated untreated rubies are considerably more valuable than heated or treated rubies. These stunning rubies have only been faceted and polished they are just as mother nature made them making this piece a perfect choice for a special ruby celebration.
Like all natural unheated untreated rubies they look different shades in different lighting conditions. Inside or in shade they are a deep ruby red and in direct sunlight you see a distinct pink tone to the red. The effect is very beautiful indeed!
The total unheated untreated natural Burmese ruby weight is 7.84 carats.
The total diamond weight is 0.99 carats.
8.83 carats total ruby and diamond weight.
An extraordinary aspect of this amazing little bracelet is that it is entirely handmade. Each link crafted by hand. So rare to see a handmade tennis bracelet today as traditionally hand making such pieces is very labor intensive and extremely costly.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
Comments:
Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. There are also sapphires treated heavily with beryllium treatment to imitate rubies. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell rubies with these treatments. The vibrant pink red rubies in this beautiful bracelet are unheated and untreated making it a perfect choice for an heirloom bracelet to be passed down in the family for generations to come.
