A superb very unique unheated ruby and sparkly diamond engagement or dress ring circa 1970.

This ring is lovely indeed the ruby has a magenta purplish hint to the red in most lights which is gorgeous, in other lights, a deep red with a hint of purple predominates. This beautiful quality something fine rubies are renown for a variation of color hues in different lights! It's stunning to see!

I adore the unique diamond setting for the special unheated ruby. The diamonds form a border or halo and are staggered into two tiers. There is an eye catching geometry to their arrangement which is very pretty indeed! It's lovely to see more unique settings like this and it makes this ring perfect for a unique ruby engagement or anniversary.

The gorgeous exceptional gem quality no heat natural ruby measures approximately 6.92mm x 5.40mm x 2.69mm weighing 0.88 carats as estimated in the setting.

There are a total of 16 exceptional white diamond accents arranged in a pretty border for the perfect color constrast to the red ruby at the heart of this heirloom quality ring. The total weight of VS/SI clarity F/G/H color diamonds here is 0.48 carats.

In total this makes the precious gem weight in this beautiful natural ruby ring 1.36 carats.

Inside the shank a 14K fineness stamp, meaning solid 14 karat gold, this confirmed by testing. This ring weighs 4.7 grams.

It is currently a size 5 1/4 US. This ring can be resized within a wide range.

The face of the ring measures approximately 1/2" long along the finger and rises 3/16" high off the finger (12.6mm x 5.2mm). The low profile here makes this gorgeous ruby ring the ideal choice for a special ring to wear each day such as an anniversary, engagement or wedding ring.

This stunning ring is in lovely vintage condition and is ready to gift or to wear.

An Appraisal and Gem Report will accompany this wonderful ring

It shall be sent in a presentation box for safe keeping.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.

Comment:
Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. There are also sapphires treated heavily with beryllium treatment to imitate rubies. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell rubies with these treatments. This stunning natural ruby is unheated and untreated making this ring a perfect choice for a unique ruby engagement or a timeless ruby anniversary ring.
