An exquisite hand made solid 18K yellow gold artisan brooch circa 1950 set with sparkly natural raspberry pink red rubies and a lovely earth mined natural emerald eye.
This stunning filigree brooch is an original mid century piece and couldn't be more fun. It's an exuberant piece of jewelry not just because of the design but also the light hearted luxury of it all. Set in this amazing piece there are a dazzling array of precious rubies and an emerald selected for their pretty colors. I love how all the fine earth mined rubies have been hand selected so that the color matches perfectly.
In total this brooch weighs 18.58 grams. Like so much handmade jewelry there is no metal fineness mark but it has been professionally tested by both our appraisers and we guarantee solid 18K yellow gold throughout the construction of this unique brooch.
Our sweet pussycat measures 2 3/16" long by 1 5/16" wide and sits 5/8" high (56mm x 33mm x 16mm).
It is a high end statement piece of jewelry which makes you smile. Quite simply this piece is FUN! Right down to the cut little whiskers and the cheeky wink of her eye you can't help but love her.
There are 38 round brilliant cut earth mined natural vivid pink red rubies set in this piece. They average 3.2mm x 2.2mm which is approximately 0.20 carats in weight for each beautiful ruby. This makes the total ruby weight approximately 7.6 carats.
In addition to the fine rubies there is a single lovely grass green emerald set as the eye which is round brilliant cut and claw set. This fine hand selected gem measures 4.32mm in diameter and is 2.38mm deep weighing approximately 0.25 carats as estimated in the setting.
This makes the total precious gem weight of the astonishing rubies and emerald 7.85 carats.
The entire brooch has been made by hand out of delicate pieces of beautiful 18K yellow gold. The filigree design is absolutely exquisite.
This high end jewel reminds me very much of red carpet jewelry from the mid century era you see in old photographs of glamorous stars. Because it is a fun piece it can be worn not just to a cocktail party but also casually and to work. If it were mine I would wear it all the time.
