This classic pastel sapphire ring designed as a ballerina style cluster setting is of heirloom quality.
The beautiful natural pink sapphire itself has a unique pink color with just a hint of violet. The color is soft and feminine but definitely not ice cream it's more like the most exquisite dusty rose you could imagine.
It weighs 5 grams, such a nice weight too on the hand.
Currently it is a size 6 to 6 1/8 US. It is sizable.
Inside the ring it is clearly marked 14K for metal fineness, testing confirms the same.
The central exquisite oval sapphire is claw set and measures 5.55mm x 5.15mm x 2.35mm weighing 0.56 carats.
There are 12 claw set tapered baguette cut diamonds each weighing approximately 2 points. In addition to these lovely sparkly diamonds are some round brilliant cut diamonds each measuring 2mm in diameter and weighing 3 points each as estimated in the setting. These diamonds are SI clarity I color on average.
This makes the total fine white diamond weight 0.54 carats.
The total weight of the divine pink sapphire and white diamonds is 1.10 carats.
Measuring the gem set top of the ring itself it is 1/2" wide by 1/2" long and rises 3/16" high (12mm x 13mm x 9mm).
I just love the unique color of this astonishing sapphire it is absolutely gorgeous. It would be difficult to replace this natural earth mined stone today as the color is so rare.

Unfortunately, in the last two decades many sapphires seen in modern jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion, deep diffusion and beryllium treatment. In recent years sapphires have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a sapphire. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell sapphires with these treatments.
