Here we have an insanely luxurious strikingly unique pair of multicolor natural untreated unheated rainbow sapphire and natural white diamond earrings in 18K white gold, 5.13 carats.
These dazzling earrings are custom made by hand. The sapphires and diamonds are as fine as money can buy and nature makes! The largest two sapphires are over one carat each! These sapphires are beautifully cut, finest gem quality, natural, unheated and untreated.
The exceptional sapphires have been arranged and selected so they are different left to right deliberately to create a harlequin design. I adore the geometry of the earrings with a cascading crescendo of extra fine gem quality trillion cut sapphires arranged three a side the smallest at the top and largest to the bottom. To each side on the verticals of the earrings extra white sparkly natural diamonds frame and accent the incredible sapphires. There is a gentle quite sensuous curve to the sapphire and diamond set earrings. The asymmetrical beauty of the earrings doesn't just frame the face but makes it difficult not to stare...For one thing the quality is almost beyond belief but secondly the eye popping colors, generous proportions and beautiful design do take your breath away.
The total sapphire weight here is 4.73 carats. (Blue 1.75 ct (1.25, 0.50), Yellow 0.75 ct, Green 0.48 ct, Pink 1.75 ct (1.05, 0.70))
There are 0.40 carats of VS clarity F color round brilliant cut diamonds.
This makes the total sapphire and diamond weight 5.13 carats.
Together the pair weigh 12.55 grams. Like much custom made artisan jewelry they are unmarked for metal fineness. Testing is conclusive the pair are solid 18 karat white gold.
They measure 7/8" long by 7/16" wide at the bottom. The top of each earring measures 5/16" in width. (21.5mm x 11.5mm, 8.5mm).

Today we rarely see this quality and sadly most "handmade" earrings are cast then polished but not handmade at all and were manufactured using CAD computer imaging design software with molds printed and cast. Stones can even be cast in place and not even set by hand! That means the stones are likely to be lost and the claws are brittle and uneven. These CAD earrings do not have the quality of handmade gold earrings and are unlikely to be able to be passed onto future generations but rather will be scrapped because of the porosity of the metal and other factors of casting using this cheap technology. These handmade earrings are quality and will stand the test of time. They are an heirloom jewel like no other.
Unfortunately, in the last two decades many sapphires seen in modern jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion, deep diffusion and beryllium treatment. In recent years sapphires have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a sapphire. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell sapphires with these treatments.
In recent times many diamonds especially are grown in laboratories. These diamonds are diamonds but are man made. Natural diamonds are more rare and more valuable than their man made counterparts. These man made diamonds are often set without disclosure in modern and contemporary jewelry as a cheaper alternative to natural earth mined diamonds. The diamonds in these earrings are natural earth mined diamonds and are untreated, which is lovely indeed.
