This pretty natural ruby ring is crafted by hand in solid 14K yellow gold.
In total it weighs approximately 9.9 grams.
The ruby and diamond cluster at the top of the ring measures approximately 13/16" long by 9/16" wide by 1/2" high off the finger (20mm x 14mm x 12mm).
The total gem ruby weight is 1.20 carats as estimated in the setting by measurements.
There are seven 1.25mm single cut VS clarity F/G color diamonds. These have a total weight of 7 points.
In total there is 1.27 carats of diamonds and rubies set in this pretty ring.

Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. There are also sapphires treated heavily with beryllium treatment to imitate rubies. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell rubies with these treatments.
