An amazing fully hand crafted modernist solid gold, hand cut onyx and luxurious fine white diamond necklace from the late 70s.
This custom made necklace is entirely hand made. The workmanship is astonishing. It is set with cabochon calbre cut genuine natural untreated onyx and fine white diamonds. The necklace opens at the back with a hinge on either side. These sections then close securely and comfortably at the back of the neck.
The gold collar itself has a individually hand faceted domed cross section. This beautiful texture plays with the light and is an astonishing contrast to the mat black of the carved onyx and the white dazzle of the fine diamonds.
It is in excellent condition.
Constructed entirely of solid 14K yellow and white gold it weighs a total of 49.04 grams.
Set into this amazing collar is a total of 2.09 carats of F VS diamonds. The highest grade an appraiser can give to set diamonds is F, the highest clarity is VS according to GIA standards.. This stunning array of fine white diamonds includes a 15 point and 17 10 point exceptional diamonds.
The circumference of the necklace will best fit a neck size of 14 1/2" or less. From the cross over at the front the drop onyx and diamond focal point measures 1 11/16" long (368mm, 43mm)
I have never seen another necklace in this style made from solid gold. The photos don't do justice to how absolutely luxurious this piece looks in person.
