This ring is an exceptionally rare surviving example and is an original piece dating to the 14th century and not any reproduction. It is made from bronze. An example is also to be found in the British Museum collection, an excerpt from their catalogue is shown as the last image above.
It is in strong intact wearable condition with beautiful patina.
This piece cannot be sized and is currently a size 6 1/2 US, please note that the shape of the ring is slightly off round.
Around the ring is the inscription "MATER DEI MEMANTO" literally "Mother of God Remember Me"
In total it weighs 3.6 grams.
This unbelievably rare ring sits 5/16" wide on the finger across the buckle motif (8.5mm).
