Here is a stunning solid 9 karat yellow gold vintage mourning ring set with an hardstone cameo
The cameo depicts a broken pillar of strength the top shattered in ruins amidst a temple foreground whilst to the left hand side is a forget me not flower in silhouette. There are some nibbles, small nicks and chips to the cameo although it presents beautifully on the hand. These features are commensurate with a vintage ring.
This ring is a size 6 3/4 US.
The cameo measures 3/4" long by 1/2" wide (19.2mm x 12.8mm). The face of the ring itself measures 3/4" long by 9/16" wide and rises 5/16" high off the finger (19.8mm x 13.8mm, 8.0mm)
Inside the shank there are English hallmarks for 9 karat yellow gold and a date letter mark for the manufacture of the later gold shank and ring setting for the cameo. It dates to 1970 and was made in England. It weighs approximately 7.27 grams.
This is a unique vintage ring and the cameo itself is special indeed. It makes a wonderful mourning ring or signet ring with lovely meaning and symbolism.
