This original 6th Century AD solid gold crucifix is of museum quality. This item has been assessed by an appraiser and is a genuine Byzantine piece not a reproduction.
The fine gold used to make this wonderful pendant is 22 carat yellow gold. It weighs 5.96 grams and of course is entirely hand made. This amazing cross is in excellent condition.
It is set with a lovely cabochon pyrope garnet. The drops at the bottom of the cross are decorated with natural amethyst and pearls.
This piece is so exciting to hold. It's absolutely amazing thinking of the places it would have been and all that it has seen in times gone by.
From top to bottom the cross measures 2 9/16" long and it is 1 1/16" wide (65mm x 27mm).
