A simply stunning one of a kind large pair of luxury unheated untreated natural deep sultry red ruby and unheated untreated natural diamond solid 18K gold dome earrings circa 1950s, 10.72 cttw, 17.57 grams.

These earrings are a beautifully proportioned dome shape. At every angle they are viewed on the ears you can see the gorgeous sparkling rubies and diamonds! I love the beautiful mirror image striped design which so wonderfully frames the face. How classic but unique these ruby earrings are and how beautiful!

The lovely rubies are completely unheated and untreated. They are a stunning deep red. These rubies have been faceted and polished only, they are just as mother nature made them! Such unheated untreated rubies are worth much more than heated or treated rubies.

These absolutely beautiful ruby earrings are a true one of a kind custom designed traditionally handmade pair. Today little jewelry is made this way but rather is cast from molten metal often with the gems cast in place. Every element of these special earrings is traditionally handmade.

The photos form part of the description of these exceptional ruby and diamond earrings. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.

Comments:
Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are undesirable and such treated stones are of very low value. The rubies in these earrings are unheated and untreated just as mother nature made them. This fact makes these particular earrings a perfect choice for a very special ruby anniversary or birthday celebration gift to be passed down in the family for generations to come.
