This amazing atomic design precious untreated natural Australian opal ring was made circa 1950. Crafted by hand in solid 18K white gold there is a total opal and diamond weight of 3.56 carats!
The opal here is very fine solid natural Australian white opal. It is a high dome cabochon of solid opal. The body color is light and there are sparks of every color of the rainbow that can be seen in the opal. There is intense red making the opal more valuable than a comparative solid opal without the warmer colors present. The colors are more visible from the sides of the opal and can be seen all the time. The play of color varies but occurs across the whole opal. Australian white opal is very stable, more so any vintage opal such as this making it an ideal choice for a special ring such as a unique engagement ring.
I adore the completely handmade setting! It is so groovy today and so unique - more so this is a one of a kind atomic era circa 1950 ring. At the time this was made this sort of jewelry design was really leading edge cool! The design has stood the test of time, today looking at it - it still appears so futuristic and new looking. It's hard to stop staring at it - this is a really cool ring- eye catching and stylish!
Inside the shank there is an 18ct mark - no year marks or similar so likely an Australian manufacture piece with this hallmark. Testing confirms solid 18 karat white gold. It weighs 6.52 grams.

There are six points of G/H/I VS/SI clarity natural untreated fine white diamonds grain set into the setting arranged geometrically into the custom designed setting.
The large Australian opal is untreated and natural of course - it is a solid opal measuring 9.18mm by 9.42mm by 7.10 mm approximately and weighing 3.5 carats as estimated in the setting.
The opal here is mysterious, unique and really classy. The play of color is delicate and joyful. I think the colors of the white opal which are a delicate make it an ideal choice for the ultra futuristic and daring setting. It is a lovely balance between exuberance and classic good taste.
