Here we have a spectacular antique Chinese Qing Dynasty natural turquoise cameo pendant depicting a crane against a sunset, dating to the 19th century.
Gemological testing including specific gravity (density) conclude this is carved from natural turquoise.
The color of the turquoise is incredibly vivid a highly saturated intense vivid slightly greenish blue.
To the front of the turquoise plaque we see a beautifully carved crane the sun behind standing on a rocky ledge bamboo carved to the right hand side of the exquisite picture.
This auspicious and beautiful amulet is symbolic of longevity.
It measures approximately 2 5/16" tall by 1 7/16" wide by 3/8" deep (59mm x 37mmx 9mm) and weighs 40.1 grams.
The pendant is in good condition being ready to wear or to display. The carving itself is not totally symmetric as it is hand carved from the natural turquoise and to the top to one side a section of the carving in a small area is the shape of the original mined turquoise as the photos depict. It presents beautifully.
