Here we have a museum quality ancient Chinese 3rd to 2nd Century BC solid 18 karat gold (electrum) and carnelian pendant dating to the late Warring States Period or Early Han Dynasty.

The chalcedony here is carved beautifully. The bi disc highly translucent of almost neon orange color which fades towards the bottom in a delicate and pleasing tones. Gold fittings finish the ancient pendant and two gold bales atop the ruyi pattern solid gold decoration are present. The gold here of course is electrum naturally occurring gold roughly equivalent to 18 karat yellow gold we are familiar with today. The surface features and polish of the natural stone attest to the antiquity of this extraordinarily rare pendant as does the tooling and manufacture of the gold fittings.

It weighs 24.71 grams.

This desirable ancient jewel can be worn as well as displayed and measures approximately 2 13/16" long to the top of the gold bales from which to suspend the pectoral and 2 1/4" wide (72mm by 57mm).

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
