Dating to the 1850s this mint condition brooch is a rare example of fine Swiss jewelry at the time. Inside a highly ornate hand made solid 18K yellow gold frame is set a miniature of exceptional beauty and detail which has been painted with fine enamels. To do this involves countless firings as each new layer of enamel is applied. It is almost impossible to see the brushstrokes in the miniature as it is so fine.

This astonishing little work of art is in exceptional condition for it's 165+ years of age. When viewed at magnification with a jewelers eyeglass there are two faint marks to the enamel.
